Welcome Address

On behalf of the Department of Rehabilitation Sciences of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, I am pleased to invite you to join our 12th Pan-Pacific Conference on Rehabilitation (PPCR) to be held on 27 and 28 November 2021. The PPCR was inaugurated in Guangzhou in 1998 and has since become an iconic biannual event of our department. The PPCR2021 fosters multi-disciplinary collaborations among rehabilitation professionals, academics, students and healthcare administrators in the Asia-Pacific region and beyond.

In response to the rapidly increasing demand for healthcare service, there are many advancements in rehabilitation research and technology, for examples, neuroimaging techniques, artificial intelligence, robotics, etc., which are bound to have positive influence to our clinical practice. The coming 12th PPCR is themed on “Innovations and Technological Developments in Rehabilitation” and will provide a comprehensive platform for knowledge exchange on a full range of rehabilitation topics. As an essential part of the program, the Organizing Committee has invited four distinguished speakers and other eminent scientists around the world to present their research at the conference. Through this conference, we hope to engage all of you in an open and constructive dialogue about the recent breakthroughs in these technological advances and their impacts on rehabilitation practice. In addition, there will be pre- and post-conference workshops covering the special topics of interest and clinical skills of the participants.

I look forward to seeing you all at the 12th PPCR and hope that this event will serve as a catalyst to strengthen international cooperation among participants from different institutions on topics of their interest. Your strong support and active participation will make the PPCR2021 a record-breaking event.
