Smith is Professor in the Department of Occupational Sciences &amp; Technology and Director of the Rehabilitation Research Design &amp; Disability (R2D2) Center <span style=\"text-decoration: underline; color: #0000ff;\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff; text-decoration: underline;\" href=\"http:\/\/(http:\/\/www.r2d2.uwm.edu\">(http:\/\/www.r2d2.uwm.edu<\/a><\/span>) at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, USA, with a joint appointment in the Clinical &amp; Translational Science Institute of Southeastern Wisconsin in the Medical College of Wisconsin. He is Fellow of Rehabilitation Engineering and Assistive Technology Society of North America (RESNA) and the American Occupational Therapy Association.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Dr. Smith received his B.A. in the social sciences (Psychology and Communications) from Goshen College, Indiana, U.S., his masters degree in the health sciences (Occupational Therapy) from the University of Washington, and his Ph.D. in industrial engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Dr. Smith has published and presented widely on accessibility, universal design, assistive technology, and outcome measurement. He has directed more than 35 grant projects supporting research, demonstration &amp; training projects that have defined issues, created measures and devised new interventions related to disability and rehabilitation with a focus on assistive technology.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Dr. Smith serves on the Board of Directors of the Global Alliance of Assistive Technology Organizations.
